Mark E Francis (Managing Director, BCom (Fin))
Mark has a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Otago and a background in finance and property in roles with Hendry Hay MacIntosh, Force Corporation Limited and Village Roadshow Australia Pty Limited. Mark formed Augusta Group Limited in 2001 and began property syndication through Augusta Funds Management in 2003. Mark is the largest shareholder in Augusta and is also a director of a number of private companies. Mark lives in Auckland.
Paul Duffy (Chairman, Dip Urb Val)
Paul Duffy has had 35 years’ experience in the property investment industry, both within NZ and internationally. Paul is currently a director of several private companies and was the chief executive/executive director of DNZ Property Fund for 13 years. During his career, Paul held the position of general manager of Fletcher Property Limited and was joint managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, an offshore government property investment agency where he was responsible for the formation of a large real estate portfolio in the United States and Europe. A former chairman of the Keystone Trust, Paul now sits on the Keystone Trust Board.
John Loughlin (Director, BCA, MBA, FCA, ANZIIF (fellow), INFINZ (fellow), FNZIM, AFInstD)
John Loughlin is a professional company director. He is chairman of Powerco Limited, Tru-Test Corporation Limited, EastPack Limited and Rockit Global Limited. John lives in Havelock North.
Bryce Barnett (Executive Director, Head of Funds Management. CA, FPINZ)
Bryce is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Property Institute of New Zealand. He began his career in the Inland Revenue before becoming the Chief Accountant of the Moller Group of Companies in 1980. From there he joined General Properties Consolidation Limited as the Managing Director involved in property development and investment throughout New Zealand. In 1989 Bryce became the General Manager of MacDow Properties, a subsidiary of the McConnell Dowell Corporate. Bryce was responsible for that company’s development and investment activity throughout New Zealand. In 1993 Bryce established KCL Property. Bryce lives in New Plymouth.
Martin Goldfinch (Director, BCom, LLB)
Martin is a senior professional with extensive commercial experience across a range of industries in both public and private companies. He holds degrees in Law and Commerce from Auckland University. He is currently the Private Equity Manager for Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). He also has current directorships with Les Mills Holdings Limited, Youi (NZ) Pty Ltd and is a Council Member of NZ Venture Capital Association. Martin is considered to be an independent director.
Mark Petersen (Dip Urb Val, SNZPI)
Mark is a Professional Director and corporate adviser who has worked in the commercial property sector for the past 35 years. Initially working as a registered valuer, Mark’s background includes development management, project management, investment management. Mark was Managing Director of NZX listed Shortland Properties Limited from 1989 – 1999. Mark is currently a Director of CentrePort Limited, Wellington’s container port company and its subsidiaries and is an advisory Board member for Te Tumu Kainga a trust administered by the Maori Trustee for the provision of affordable housing. Mark is a former director of Wellington Waterfront Limited; a former director of Australian property focused private equity funds which were established and managed by Grant Samuel and is a past Chair of the NZ Hockey Federation. Mark is currently an executive director of D H Flinders, a Melbourne headquartered corporate advisory firm providing corporate and funds management advice in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
Simon Woollams (Chief Financial Officer)
Simon has a commerce degree majoring in accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant. Simon has a strong financial background including roles with BDO Spicers, UK experience and then four years at ANZ National Bank in the property and finance teams. His previous role at ANZ National Bank was as the property finance manager. Simon has been with Augusta since 2007.
Phillip Hinton (Consultant, FPINZ, FNZIV)
Phil has over 35 years property experience in New Zealand, previously as a registered valuer and partner of Telfer Young (Taranaki) Limited, specialising in commercial property valuations for twenty years. He joined the KCL Property group of companies in 2002 and specialised in investment, analysis, management and development. Phil is immediate past President and Board member of the Property Institute of New Zealand and a member of the Institute of Directors. Phil is a licensed Real Estate Agent, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and has a Fellowship from the New Zealand Property Institute. Phil is also a Life Member of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce.
Guy French-Wright (Chief Operations Officer)
Mr French-Wright joins Augusta from Quintessential Equity, a wholesale property fund manager based in Melbourne, Australia, where he was General Manager – Development and was responsible for building a diversified development business. Prior to that, he was Development Director – Commercial at the Mirvac Group in Melbourne and has held a range of other management positions at Mirvac Group, Salta Properties and Austcorp Group in Australia. He started his career as an Investment Banking Associate at Macquarie Bank. The appointment marks a return to New Zealand for Mr French-Wright who grew up in Christchurch and obtained property and finance qualifications from Lincoln and Otago Universities.
Luke Fitzgibbon (General Counsel and Company Secretary, LLB (Hons), BSci (Chem))
Luke joined Augusta in January 2016 from Chapman Tripp where he spent 8 years in the corporate team where he advised on securities laws (including for Augusta’s syndications), mergers and acquisitions as well as general commercial and corporate advice.
Luke completed his studies at the University of Otago where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Chemistry).
Luke’s role at Augusta is to oversee and advise on all legal aspects of the Augusta business.
Stephen Brown-Thomas (Development Manager)
Stephen has a bachelor of business majoring in Valuation & Property Management and has over 10 years’ experience in property, asset and development management. Stephen has previously had roles with DTZ International and joined KCL Property in 2007. Stephen subsequently joined Augusta in April 2014 after the acquisition of KCL as Development Manager and has had a strong focus on development and project work throughout the Augusta portfolio whilst also managing a number of assets.
Paul Matheson (Corporate Financial Controller, ACMA/CGMA)
Paul is a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA/CGMA) and has a commerce degree in accountancy. Paul’s background is in the financial services industry having worked in London, Sydney and most recently for Westpac New Zealand in the property and corporate finance teams. Paul joined Augusta in 2014.
Adelle McBeth (Investor Relations Manager)
Adelle joined KCL on a part time basis in 2004 while studying at The University of Auckland. In 2007 she joined the team in New Plymouth on a full time basis and has been in a marketing role ever since, working between the Auckland and New Plymouth offices.
Lohsing Cheng (Senior Asset Manager)
Lo has a background in property and asset management, working for Equinox Capital for over 10 yearsand KCL Property since late 2012. Lo joins Augusta as aSenior Asset Manager responsible for the Auckland properties formerly managed at KCL Property.
Bernie Smith (Senior Asset Manager)
Bernie joined the KCL team and recently has been the Senior Asset Manager looking after the New Zealand portfolio from Hamilton South and the Queensland portfolio. Bernie completed a Bachelor of Business Studies majoring in Valuation & Property Management at Massey University. Prior to joining KCL Bernie managed a private portfolio in Auckland.
Adrian Leach (Financial Controller - Value Add Fund)
Adrian joined KCL Property in 2008 and served as the company’s Group Accountant. Adrian is a Chartered Accountant having previously been Finance Manager for NASDAQ listed company Aviat Networks, heading up the Finance team for their NZ operation. Outside of work, Adrian enjoys spending time with his young family and is a keen mountain biker.
Hayley Cross (Syndicate Finance Manager)
Hayley joined the Augusta team in August 2017. She manages the Syndicate Finance Team to oversee preparation, monitoring and reporting of financial matters relating to the syndicates. This includes treasury management, cash flow forecasting, feasibility modelling, financial statement preparation, entity divestments and managing relationships with external stakeholders. Prior to joining Augusta Hayley worked for ASB in investment, analysis and project roles.
Will Ellison (Development Manager)
Will joined the Auckland team in October, previously holding roles as the National Property Development Manager for Progressive Enterprises, NZ and as Associate Director, Funds Management for LaSalle Investment Management in London. As a Development Manager he is responsible for achieving corporate objectives in relation to property development activities and major capital works programmes through strategic planning, development management and financial management and reporting.
James Page (Finance and Syndicate Manager)
James obtained his Chartered Accountancy qualification in 2011 whilst working for PWC in the United Kingdom, auditing property funds and unit trusts for Zurich Assurance and Thredneedle Asset Management. James joined KCL in 2013 having emigrated to New Zealand for a lifestyle change.
Alex Kendrick (Assistant Development Manager)
Alex joined Augusta in 2015 following her employment with Bayleys Real Estate. Alex holds a Bachelor of Property and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in commercial law) obtained from the University of Auckland. Alexandra’s role within the company includes assistance to our asset managers as well as investor anti-money laundering due diligence.
Ben Visser (Asset Manager, BCom (Fin), BProp)
Ben joined Augusta in March 2017 as an Asset Manager with a portfolio spanning from Auckland to Hastings. Ben holds a Bachelor of Business Studies with a double major in Finance and Valuation & Property Management. Previously Ben had roles with Jones Lang LaSalle in the valuations and office leasing team and most recently worked for Trust Investments Management as a Property Manager. Coming from a successful Triathlon career Ben now plans to re-focus his attention to Commercial Property.
Stefanie Chapman (Finance Administrator)
Stef joined KCL Property Limited in February 2013 as a Finance Administrator. She is still in the finance team, based in New Plymouth. Currently her role focuses on processing distribution payments to investors, reconciling management fee bank account and assisting the finance team when required.
Matt Selles (Assistant Asset Manager)
Matt started with Augusta in October 2017 following his employment at CBRE as a commercial property analyst. Matt holds a Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland. His role as assistant asset manager entails helping Bernie run the New Zealand and Australian property portfolios as proficiently as possible.
Robert Greed (Syndicate Finance Associate)
Rob joined Augusta as a Syndicate Finance Associate in March 2017 having previously worked in PwC Auckland’s Financial Assurance department as a Senior Associate. Rob is a Chartered Accountant and also holds a Bachelor of Business Analysis majoring in Accounting and Marketing which he obtained from the University of Waikato.
Wendy Roycroft (Assistant Asset Manager)
Wendy has a background in banking and finance, lending to property developers and commercial property investors in Wellington, London and Auckland. She joined the team in 2014 when Augusta purchased the IPT business from Bayleys where she was managing IPT’s portfolio of seven syndicated properties. Her current role is Assistant Asset Manager along with leading a project to transition the company’s managed investment schemes for the requirements of the Financial Markets Conduct Act.
Matt Ander (Syndicate Finance Associate, BCom (Fin, Econ))
Matt joined Augusta in January 2015 after returning from London where he worked in the finance team at University College London for two years. Matt obtained his commerce degree majoring in Finance and Economics in 2011 from the University of Otago and is currently studying towards his Chartered Financial Analyst. Matt is a keen sportsman where you will often find him out on the golf course or on a football field.
Matt Lee (Syndicate Finance Associate, BCom (Accounting, Commercial Law))
Matt joined Augusta as a Syndicate Accountant in September 2016. He obtained his Chartered Accountancy qualification while working as a tax consultant for PwC. Prior to working at PwC Matt worked in the finance team at NZX. Matt completed his studies at the University of Wellington where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law.
Kerri Ewart (Investor Relations Assistant)
Kerri joined Augusta in August 2016 after a long career in banking across the retail, rural and commercial sectors. The majority of that time was spent specialising in commercial banking within the Lower North Island region, based in Taranaki. Kerri is part of the Investor Relations team, primarily facilitating secondary sales and ownership transfers on behalf of investors, in addition providing guidance and support to investors in regard to completion of Anti-money Laundering & Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML) due diligence.
Jess Davidson (Marketing and Communications Manager)
Jess joined the Auckland office in November 2017. She has an extensive advertising and marketing background including 3 years as an account manager for Mojo and 4 years working as an account director for Saatchi and Saatchi in London, as well as several other roles focused on brand, marketing, strategy and development. Jess’s role will be focused on growing the Augusta investor database, public relations and devising and implementing a marketing strategy.
Brad Hinton (Syndicate Finance Associate)
Brad joined Augusta Auckland in October after returning from three years in London; the last two of which he spent working at Grosvenor. As a Syndicate Finance Associate, Brad oversees the finance and accounting functions for a portfolio of New Zealand syndicates. This includes the preparation of financial statements and annual budgets, liaising with the bank around funding requirements, ensuring all compliance obligations are met, and assisting in the development and implementation of strategy for each syndicate in his portfolio.
Jessica Tuki (Syndicate Finance Associate)
Jessica joined Augusta as a syndicate finance associate in February 2015. Prior to this she has worked in the business advisory team at Staples Rodway Hamilton. Jessica oversees the finance and accounting functions for a portfolio of New Zealand based property Schemes. This includes the preparation of financial statements and annual budgets liaising with the bank around funding requirements; ensuring all compliance obligations are met; and assisting in the development and implementation of strategy for each Scheme in her portfolio.
Jasmine McAuslan (Executive Assistant to Mark Francis)
Jasmine joined Augusta in October 2016 as the Executive Assistant to Mark Francis, Managing Director. Her role involves assisting Mark and the senior management team with day to day activities, as well as managing a variety of functions and projects. She has over 7 years’ experience in the property sector working as an Executive Assistant and Facilities Manager for Robt. Jones Holdings Ltd previously. Jasmine holds a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management from Otago Polytechnic.
Brendan Clough (Syndicate Finance Associate, BCom (Fin, Accounting, Commercial Law))
Brendan joined Augusta as an Internal Auditor in October 2016, before transitioning to a Syndicate Accountant maternity cover role in November 2016. He earned his CA qualification while working as a Financial Auditor at PwC in New Plymouth. Brendan completed his studies at Victoria University where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration majoring in Accounting, Finance and Commercial Law.
Nikki Burwell (Investor Relations Assistant/Receptionist)
Nikki joined the KCL Property team in May 2009 as the receptionist in the New Plymouth office. She is part of the Investor Relations team and is the first point of contact for visitors to the office and phoning into Augusta New Plymouth
Sheree Vickers (AML/CFT Compliance Officer)
Sheree joined the Augusta compliance team in 2015. In her role as AML/CFT Compliance Officer, Sheree’s focus is to ensure that Augusta meets its reporting and compliance obligations of the AML/CFT Act. Her responsibilities include the implementation of the organisation’s compliance programme, ongoing account monitoring and upholding Augusta’s strong culture of compliance. Sheree holds degrees in both Commerce and Arts from the University of Auckland
Alexandra Wheeler (Assistant Asset Manager)
Alexandra joined Augusta Capital in October of 2016 while she completed her Undergraduate degree at the University of Auckland. She now has a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Finance and Economics and is currently doing her Honours in Economics.
Louise Connell (Legal and Compliance Manager, LLB (Hons))
Louise joined Augusta in 2017 following 3 years working for a top-tier global law firm in London in the Disputes Resolution team. Louise has also previously worked for the Financial Markets Authority and Bell Gully. Louise has a strong regulatory and commercial litigation background.
Louise graduated from University of Auckland where she obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Senior Prize.
Marlene Barrowman (Personal Assistant)
Marlene started employment with KCL Property in November 1999 as PA to Bryce Barnett. Marlene’s role encompasses organising all aspects of investor meetings as well as PA duties to Bryce Barnett and Phil Hinton.
Katie Ireson (AML/CFT Compliance Programme Administrator)
Katie’s role involves processing investor applications and ensuring that Augusta meets its compliance obligations under the AML/CFT Act. Often your first point of contact for any AML related queries, she works closely with investors to meet Augusta’s due diligence requirements of the act. Katie joined the Augusta team as a temp in June 2016 and was employed on a full-time basis in July 2017.
Nicolaas Eman (Corporate Accountant)
Nic Joined Augusta in September 2016 as a Corporate Accountant, transitioning from the assurance line of service at PwC. Nic has obtained a Bachelor of Management Studies majoring in Accountancy – First Class Honours, and a Graduate Diploma in Finance from The University of Waikato. Currently, Nic is in the process of gaining his CA Qualification with Augusta.
Jess Merrilees (Office Administrator)
Jess joined Augusta’s Auckland office in 2017 as the office administrator being the first point of contact for all visitors and investors. She is responsible for ensuring general administrative support is completed effectively and efficiently as well as liaising with all staff to assist with any ad-hoc duties. Jess also regularly assists the executive assistant with coordinating staff functions and the preparation of events.
